Eberle produced face shields for medical personnel by 3D-printing process and donated them to the organization “Maker vs Virus” for charitable purposes.  Maker vs. Virus are well over 7,000 people, all of whom volunteered for this project. They are private persons, associations, Chaos Computer Clubs, schools and university workshops. Institutions on local, state and federal level as well as companies.

The demand from health care institutions was so strong in April that the platform initially had problems meeting the demand. The Eberle company was able to help with nearly 100 shields. The Eberle Shields were delivered to the hospital Landsberg am Lech, to the health care service Deschler and to a pneumological medical practice.

The face shields prevent infectious agents (e.g. viruses) from getting into the eyes through droplets – for example through sneezing and coughing. To ensure that the face shield provides effective protection, a breathing mask with an appropriate filter (FFP3 or similar) is also required. The shield consists of a total of 4 parts, a 3D-printed frame, the visor, a 3D-printed stiffener and a buttonhole elastic band.

We thank our product and process engineer, Mr. Tobias Frunder, for his extraordinary commitment. He became aware of this project through his private preference for 3D printing and started the production of shields from home – until Eberle came into play …
