Sustainable management in the Greiffenberger Group

Eberle significantly reduces nitrogen consumption in the heat treatment process!

Heat treatment processes are an essential part of the processes required to produce and refine metals. Nitrogen is often used as a shielding gas to prevent unwanted chemical reactions. Inefficient use of nitrogen can lead to serious environmental problems, including polluting air quality and contributing to global warming.

Today, thanks to innovative technologies and efficient processes, we have succeeded in significantly reducing nitrogen consumption in this process. Here are the key strategies that have contributed to this success at Eberle:

The two most important measures:

Optimisation of process control: By using modern control systems and sensors, we can monitor and adjust the exact nitrogen requirement in real time. This means that only the quantity actually required is used, resulting in considerable savings.
Improved system tightness: We have integrated appropriate technologies to improve the tightness of heat treatment systems. These prevent nitrogen from escaping into the environment and therefore make a major contribution to increasing efficiency.

The advantages of these measures:

  • Reduced environmental impact: Less nitrogen emissions mean less impact on the atmosphere and a contribution to combating climate change.
  • Cost savings: The efficiency improvements not only help to protect the environment, they also reduce our operating costs.
  • Sustainable production: These measures foster more sustainable industrial production that is in line with global environmental goals.

TOGETHER FOR A GREENER FUTURE

Our success in reducing nitrogen consumption in the heat treatment process shows how technological innovation and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. We will continue to work on this issue in order to implement the measures we have developed in other systems at our production site and considerably increase the savings potential.

Energy management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001

The Greiffenberger Group and its subsidiary J.N. Eberle & Cie. GmbH (Eberle) attach great importance to sustainability and energy efficiency!

Sylvie Goriup, Energy Manager at Eberle, describes the situation as follows: “We are proud to have been ISO 50001 certified for our energy management system since 2014. The targets we have set ourselves in this context are continuously monitored. As an energy-intensive company, sustainability is not just a trend, but a fundamental part of our corporate philosophy. Thanks to our long-standing focus on energy efficiency, we can not only save costs, but also make a positive contribution to environmental protection.”

The Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG) for companies, which has been in force since September 13, 2023, confirms Eberle’s commitment in this area. But Eberle is not resting on its laurels. The urgent need to reduce its carbon footprint and rising energy prices mean that Eberle must continue to work on energy-efficient production processes and measures in building technology.

“Our ISO 50001 recertification in December 2023 is proof of our commitment and dedication to reducing energy consumption and costs,” explains Managing Director Gernot Egretzberger. He is convinced that Eberle remains true to its goal of operating sustainably and making a positive contribution to our environment and our stakeholders.
