Saving energy, conserving resources ♻️ Compressed air solutions with measurable added value
J.N. Eberle & Cie. GmbH is making a strong statement for sustainability and resource conservation in production: By investing in a modern compressed air compressor, we are taking another step toward energy-efficient manufacturing and climate protection.
Our new compressed air compressor stands out with a significant reduction in energy consumption – approximately 20% less energy is needed for compressed air generation. Additionally, we utilize the waste heat efficiently, for instance, to heat one of our production buildings. Looking ahead, the recovered heat can also be used to heat domestic water, saving even more resources.
As part of this project, we systematically eliminated compressed air leaks throughout the entire production facility. This measure not only further reduces energy consumption but also increases the reliability and efficiency of our entire compressed air supply system.
The implementation of this forward-thinking project was supported by funding from the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) – another indication of the strategic importance of this investment for the environment and the economy.
Key benefits at a glance:
- Reduced energy consumption: Approximately 20% reduction in electricity use for compressed air generation.
- Efficient heat utilization: Waste heat is used to heat a production building and can be repurposed for domestic water heating in the future.
- Sustainable processes: Systematic elimination of compressed air leaks enhances efficiency and reduces energy losses.
- Climate protection contribution: Lower CO₂ emissions through optimized energy use.
- BAFA funding: Support from the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control confirms the ecological and social value of this project.
With this initiative, J.N. Eberle & Cie. GmbH reaffirms its commitment to sustainable and efficient production processes. This progress is a further contribution to the energy transition and demonstrates how responsible resource use and economic efficiency go hand in hand. Together, we actively shape the energy transition.
Tooth protection made from recycled plastic ♻️ Sustainability with color system
Tooth protection made from recycled tooth protection – sustainability with a color system
Eberle has always focused on quality and sustainability. As the world’s leading manufacturer of metal bandsaws with an export share of 92 percent, we are aware of our responsibility towards the environment and future generations. That is why we have taken another important step towards sustainability:
From September 2024, we will be using recycled plastics for the tooth protection on our band saw blades. This tooth guard protects our customers’ employees from injury and protects the tooth tips from damage during transportation.
Until now, we have relied on newly manufactured plastics. By switching to recycled plastic, we are now making a valuable contribution to environmental protection while maintaining the same premium quality.
In addition to the ecological benefits, we are improving the efficiency of our customers’ warehousing with a new color system. Specific color coding makes our various product groups intuitively distinguishable.
The advantages at a glance:
- Reduced CO2 emissions: Thanks to the use of recycled plastic, we can reduce our CO2 emissions by around 40 tons per year. At the same time, we reduce the consumption of valuable oil resources.
- Less plastic waste and microplastics: The use of recycled material helps to significantly reduce the amount of plastic waste. At the same time, we reduce the pollution of the world’s oceans with microplastics.
- Promoting recycling: The newly used plastic is particularly easy to recycle. This enables a further reduction in plastic waste and closes the cycle of the recycling process.
- Logical color system: Our new color concept ensures a systematic allocation of the Eberle product groups and enables efficient warehousing for our customers.
Only Eberle offers metal band saws with a sustainable tooth protection – an innovation that combines quality and environmental awareness.
This change will be presented for the first time at the AMB in Stuttgart in September 2024. We are now gradually implementing the color coding with recycled plastics – in the spirit of sustainability – until our traditional tooth guard is completely used up.

Eberle significantly reduces nitrogen consumption in the heat treatment process!
Heat treatment processes are an essential part of the processes required to produce and refine metals. Nitrogen is often used as a shielding gas to prevent unwanted chemical reactions. Inefficient use of nitrogen can lead to serious environmental problems, including polluting air quality and contributing to global warming.
Today, thanks to innovative technologies and efficient processes, we have succeeded in significantly reducing nitrogen consumption in this process. Here are the key strategies that have contributed to this success at Eberle:
The two most important measures:
Optimisation of process control: By using modern control systems and sensors, we can monitor and adjust the exact nitrogen requirement in real time. This means that only the quantity actually required is used, resulting in considerable savings.
Improved system tightness: We have integrated appropriate technologies to improve the tightness of heat treatment systems. These prevent nitrogen from escaping into the environment and therefore make a major contribution to increasing efficiency.
The advantages of these measures:
- Reduced environmental impact: Less nitrogen emissions mean less impact on the atmosphere and a contribution to combating climate change.
- Cost savings: The efficiency improvements not only help to protect the environment, they also reduce our operating costs.
- Sustainable production: These measures foster more sustainable industrial production that is in line with global environmental goals.
TOGETHER FOR A GREENER FUTURE
Our success in reducing nitrogen consumption in the heat treatment process shows how technological innovation and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. We will continue to work on this issue in order to implement the measures we have developed in other systems at our production site and considerably increase the savings potential.
Energy management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001
The Greiffenberger Group and its subsidiary J.N. Eberle & Cie. GmbH (Eberle) attach great importance to sustainability and energy efficiency!
Sylvie Goriup, Energy Manager at Eberle, describes the situation as follows: “We are proud to have been ISO 50001 certified for our energy management system since 2014. The targets we have set ourselves in this context are continuously monitored. As an energy-intensive company, sustainability is not just a trend, but a fundamental part of our corporate philosophy. Thanks to our long-standing focus on energy efficiency, we can not only save costs, but also make a positive contribution to environmental protection.”
The Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG) for companies, which has been in force since September 13, 2023, confirms Eberle’s commitment in this area. But Eberle is not resting on its laurels. The urgent need to reduce its carbon footprint and rising energy prices mean that Eberle must continue to work on energy-efficient production processes and measures in building technology.
“Our ISO 50001 recertification in December 2023 is proof of our commitment and dedication to reducing energy consumption and costs,” explains Managing Director Gernot Egretzberger. He is convinced that Eberle remains true to its goal of operating sustainably and making a positive contribution to our environment and our stakeholders.
